



Good Standing: A scholarship or student debt award will be awarded to a member or dependent (Child or Legal Dependent) of a member in good standing with UFCW 876 for one full year. This means the member must have been in continuous good standing with all dues fully paid for one year, as of April 27, 2026. The member must also maintain membership in good standing until the time the award is presented in order to be eligible. The 876 Membership Department will verify good standing upon receiving application.
Application Materials: To be considered for a scholarship, students must complete and return this scholarship application, official transcripts, and essay. The essay should be typed, 300 words minimum, on the labor topic listed. Failure to completely and legibly fill out any portion of the application form, or to provide any of the requested documentation or other materials, will result in disqualification.**If you are an incoming Freshman, please include your Acceptance Letter along with your Student ID number.**
Publication: Scholarship recipients only will be notified no later than June 19, 2026 and will be provided with all information necessary to obtain their award at that time. All essays will remain the property of UFCW 876, and the union retains the right to print any submitted essay in any of its publications or on its website. UFCW 876 also reserves the right to publicly use the names and any images of the winners for promotion of its scholarship program.
Deadline & Selection: The deadline for receipt of the application and required
documents is Monday, April 27, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. Applicants will be selected based on academic achievement, community involvement, career goals, and a demonstrated understanding of labor unions. Recipients will be selected by the Scholarship Selection Committee, composed of labor leaders, educators, civic leaders, and/or public officials. And the decision of the Scholarship Selection Committee will be final and binding.
Awards: Five $2,000 Academic Scholarships will be awarded to full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate students attending, or accepted to attend, an accredited college, university, community college, or recognized trade school at the time the award is presented.
Winners will be required, prior to receiving their award, to provide the committee with proof of enrollment for Fall 2026 at an accredited institution of higher learning, along with a professional photo. Failure to do so constitutes disqualification.
Previous 876 scholarship winners and relatives of union staff are not eligible to receive UFCW 876
scholarships.
