Hero Pay Secured for Many, Efforts Continue

A Message from President Dan Pedersen

For nearly 17,500 UFCW 876 members across the state, acknowledgement of worker risk and sacrifice has been recognized through various company compensatory programs, like Hero Pay; and have been enacted due to the perseverance and tenacity of both member and union. Together, we have fought to what is right - and won!

In a time of crisis, the best plan of action is a coordinated one; with the end goal being - protect our members and their communities. That being said, appreciation goes out to those companies who stepped up: Rite Aid Pharmacy, Diversitak, Inc, Diversified Chemical, Adhesive Systems, Oleson’s Food, Riverside Market, Alexander Hornung, Polly’s Country Market, Cattleman’s Meat; Kroger, People’s Food Co-op and Hollywood Markets.

However, there are several additional employers 876 is now focusing on, and we will need everyone’s engagement and action to push these conversations forward to employers who lag behind in doing the right thing. Please like our Facebook page to become a part of this important advocacy group. That’s is how solidarity works - a win for one is a win for all.

Remaining Diligent in Enforcing COVID-19 Company Policy & Protocol

We have been successful in securing $2 Hero Pay; mask and glove wear; cashier shields; social distancing and work area sanitizing.
