UFCW Michigan Endorses Candidates
Michigan Primary is August 3, 2010

Pro-worker candidates need your help in getting elected this year. Their first step is winning their primary election on August 3, 2010. Local 876 members can help insure candidates who have the best interests of workers and their families are elected by encouraging their co-workers, friends, and family to go to the polls on Tuesday, August 3. Below is a complete list of endorsed candidates.  Note: No endorsements were made in some districts.

UFCW Local 876 Endorses Virg Benero for Governor

After an extensive interview and selection process, which involved several UFCW members, UFCW Michigan has identified and endorsed the most pro-worker candidates in the 2010 election.

“When we look at candidates, the union determines which candidates will fight for workers and their families,” Robinson said. “This is going to be an extremely important election for Michigan workers, whose very existence depends on political leaders who can help bring the state out of its economic slump, bring good jobs to the state and ensure that the good union jobs continue to be protected.”

The governor’s race will be particularly tough, as republicans are blaming the state’s problems on democrats.

“We need a strong candidate for governor, not only one who will fight for workers, but who will be able to fight and win against the republican candidate,” Robinson said. “Virg Benero is that candidate. He has a plan to put Michigan back to work, is passionate and dedicated to Michigan’s workers and can stand up against any candidate the republicans nominate.”
