Local 876 Membership Committees

Local 876 members can help strengthen their union in an area of interest to them and participate in charting the course of their union’s future by becoming involved in one or more of the new committees established by the union.

“We know not everyone is interested in or able to serve as a steward or on a bargaining or organizing committee,” Roger Robinson, Local 876’s president, said. “The new committees will give members the chance to become active in their union in an area of interest to them and determine how the local can best use our resources to benefit the membership.”

Political Leadership Committee
The actions of politicians on every level effect Local 876 members and their families in many ways, every day. The Local 876 Political Leadership Committee will work to ensure the actions of politicians have a positive impact on the membership. Members of this committee will have the opportunity to be involved in many activities including; contacting elected officials, speaking out on workers’ issues, volunteering on campaigns, and attending political events.

Women’s Committee
As union members, the women of Local 876 do not have to worry about not receiving the same pay and benefits as their male coworkers, but like all working women, they have concerns and face situations that are uniquely female. The members of the Local 876 Women’s Committee will help identify the issues of utmost concern to their fellow working women and assist the union in addressing these issues. From

Youth Committee
Workers in their teens and twenties represent the hope for the future. The Local 876 Youth Committee will give younger members an avenue to have their voices heard and design new opportunities for these members to enjoy the union advantage.

Community Services Committee
Organized labor has a strong history of helping its members and their communities, especially during tough times. Members of the Community Services Committee will continue this great tradition by learning how community agencies can assist their coworkers, and determine how the union can help strengthen their communities. Committee members will be involved in a variety of activities, have the opportunity to attend training seminars, and play key roles in fundraising and volunteer events.

Membership Services Committee
Local 876 is always looking for ways to increase the benefits of union membership. The Membership Services Committee will assist the union in achieving this goal by identifying areas where the union can secure membership discounts and other savings. The Committee will also determine other special events and outings the union can host to provide members and their families with free or reduced cost entertainment. Committees will meet on an as needed basis. Members will be able to determine their level of involvement on each committee. For more information, complete the accompanying form.
